Thailand Visa Rules Update 2026

(for ordinary passport) Effective from 15 September 2026

On 31 August 2026, the Royal Gazette published an announcement regarding the cancellation of the 60-day visa exemption scheme for 93 countries.
The revised policy introduces the following regulations:

● 30-day visa exemption: 60 countries
● 15-day visa exemption: 2 countries
● Visa on Arrival (VoA): Reduced to 3 countries
● Bilateral Agreements: Remain unchanged

This announcement will take effect from 15 September 2026 onwards.
Foreigners who have already entered Thailand under current visa exemption schemes, or who plan to travel to Thailand prior to the effective date of this revision may stay until their permitted period of stay expires.
Once the new visa exemption schemes take effect, visitors may enter Thailand via:

● The new visa exemption schemes
● Bilateral visa exemption agreements
● An appropriate visa applied for through the Thailand e-Visa system
